03 persons arrested from Durgapur in cyber fraud case registered under Cyber Crime PS of Jhargram District Police.

One Bimal Sahoo of Kultikri under Sankrail PS area was defrauded by the fraudsters in the name of LPG gas Cylinder Subsidy. He had shared his bank details along with OTPs as demanded by the fraudsters resulting in online fraud of 2,69,999/-. Accordingly a case was registered at Cyber PS Jhargram and a complaint was also lodged at National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP). Tracing the money trail and following ATM withdrawals by the fraudsters along with tracking the location of unknown caller, one particular region in Asansol Durgapur area was suspected to be the operating zone of the fraudsters. Subsequently raid was conducted under Faridpur PS area by IO and through efficient source network and vigorous search accompanied by local police station, 03 fraudsters were arrested. 02 Smart TABs, 14 smart phones, 124 SIM cards and 09 ATM cards were seized from the spot.

Those 03 arrested persons have confessed their involvement in committing the crime. They have also confessed about their involvement in various other cyber crimes in different parts of the State.
